1977 Gibson ’55 Les Paul Special RI

$1,795.00

Here is a 1977 Gibson ’55 Les Paul Special RI in played but nice, original condition! A perhaps unusual if not rare early reissue of a vintage classic that-in itself- is vintage. Not surprisingly, this early Gibson reissue is not an entirely accurate spin on the classic. While the originals have become renowned for this giant necks, this one sports a thinner late 60’s style profile. Nut width=1.69″, and thickness at the 1st fret=.77″ and at the 12th=.87″. The neck is very comfortable worn in with a lot of wear (down to the exposed wood). Original Gibson branded 70’s Chrome Tulip style tuners. Frets are original and exhibit generous signs of wear but are tall enough to be comfortable to play. The entire harness- pickups, pots (dating to 1977) all appear original along with all hardware. The strap buttons were replaced with Strap Lock style, and an extra button-hole was added on the inside of the upper horn. Weighs in at a sturdy but not absurd 8lbs 4 oz. The pickups are hot and punchy!
