1955 Kay Thin Twin (Model K161)

$1,795.00

Very clean/original 1955 Kay Thin Twin (Model K161)! This is the infamous “Jimmy Reed” model, played by so many blues/roots artists in the 50’s. Not a reissue- though the condition would seem to indicate it is. Aside from a pro refret- it’s all original, including the Kluson “Keystone” style tuners (which are rare on these). The single coil pickups are strong and “Throaty”- very mid forward, almost P90 character. The neck is a CHUNK. Nut width= 1.67″, and thickness at 1st fret= 1.04″ and at the 9th= 1.20, so it’s a real piece of lumber! This is chambered so the weight is very light & comfortable. And with the refret, action & playability is incredible- so many of these examples have suffered with repairs & mods and poor upkeep. Not this example!
