1969 Gibson L-5CES Natural

$12,995.00

This 1969 Gibson L-5CES Natural is a real Beauty! Sometimes a guitar just has “it”. This one feels really special, clean enough to make it a collectible example, but has the right feel & mojo to make it an excellent player. With a maple back & sides and a very nicely figured spruce top- no repairs or cracks, some normal finish checking, and the nitro finish has turned a beautiful aged hue. Some of the hardware was switched out for newer/cleaner versions- the pickup covers, the bridge top- and the pickup pole pieces, but all of the that original hardware is included and exhibits the aging/wear one would expect for an instrument of this age. The original bridge top is loaded with the original nylon saddles. All other hardware appears to be original- including the tailpiece. The original Pat # pickups are very strong and balanced- the bridge output is 7.95k and the neck pickup is 8.08k. Nut width= 1.57″, the neck shape is very typical of the era- rounded comfortable shoulder and a medium “C” with the thickness at the 1st=.87″ and at the 9th fret=.96″. Frets are original and quite tall. Action is set up very low, currently with round-wound 11’s. This is a no-excuses, no story telling beautiful example of this instrument/era!
