1967 Gibson Firebird III

1967 Non-Reverse Gibson Firebird III in original Tobacco Sunburst finish with no repairs in excellent condition! We hope you like a mystery so get ready for this one. First the good news: there are no neck. heel, or headstock repairs or any finish work or changes! Tuners were replaced with Grovers (originals are gone). Original Vibrola tailpiece was modified to a stop tail at some point- but it has now been restored (with RI tailpiece/trem) to it’s original state, so there are filled stud holes from previous modification. Pots appear original and date to ’66, and the rest of the jack, harness and pickups all appear original (including switch). BUT- underneath the pickguard, there is evidence of some previous additional routing. We’re not sure why?! (Photos available upon request) Refretted, and wider than vintage spec was used for wire. Neck has a typical flattish “U” profile typical of the era. Nut width = 1.58″, and 1st fret thickness= .81″ tapers to a chunky 12th fret thickness of .96″. Weight is very light at 7.6 lbs. Overall a great player at a very reasonable price for the era due to the modifications.
