This 1965 Gibson J-45 ADJ is a really clean, gig ready example! The serial # on this one- due to the overlap of Gibson’s serialization- is either a 1965 or 1967. The features are the same for either, and the original Cherry Sunburst finish is really clean and bright- although the outer Red edges have taken on more of an Orange hue. There is a lot of overall finish ‘crazing’, but even player wear is nominal. The “ADJ” designation would mean that this normally comes with an adjustable style rosewood bridge- but that’s been replaced with a solid version- and the improvement in tone/sustain is significant. The only other change that we can see is that it appears to have been refretted. Very nearly accurate (if not slightly wider) Gibson wire was used, and it shows only some slight wear in the lower positions on treble strings. Nut width= 1.58″ so this is the narrow version, neck thickness at 1st fret= .79″ and at the 9th= .96″ so there is significant taper. Tuners are original Kluson. The saddle (compensated) and nut are both (bone) replacements. This is a really lively guitar! It sounds really open and resonant compared to a lot of examples we’ve seen, and this is certain to make someone very happy!
