Here’s a magnificent “players grade” 1956 Martin D-28!! The body is an original ’56 with all of the character & vibe, but it has been renecked by a local luthier (and an authorized Martin repairman) using a modern Martin D-28 neck! Of course there is also an adjustable truss-rod, since it’s a modern neck- so that’s a definite bonus! With its original Sitka top and Brazilian back/sides & original braces it really sings like a ’56 would. The neck is a modern replacement so the profile is consistent and gives the guitar a modern feel. Grover “butter bean” vintage style tuners, and a nut width of 1.73″, neck thickness at 1st fret=.85″ and at the 9th fret= .90″. Modern Martin frets that show no wear, as this replacement is new to the instrument. Neck has a volute. The body is pretty clean and exhibits a couple cracks but they are stable and clean. There has been an endpin repair/fill. The bridge is an Ebony replacement and holding strong.
