1948 Gibson L5C

$13,995.00

1948 Gibson L5C in original Two-tone Sunburst! This is a beautifully maintained example, owned and played for years by a working musician, so you know it sounds great! Aside from the replaced tuners (they crumbled up and were replaced with Grover Imperials many years ago) we believe this to be all original. Original frets are still in good shape- some signs of wear in the lower positions, but plenty of life/height left. There is evidence (only via blacklight- not visible to the naked eye) of two small back seem repairs, likely just lacquer fills- the neck heel and at the bottom endpin. Just a bit of separation they likely touched up. Pickgaurd is original (this is probably the most surprising thing- as so often these crumble or crack)! Neck exhibits a very soft “V” profile, and is a bit of a chunk but very comfortable, 1st fret= .92″ and at the 9th .99″, with a but width of 1.67″. The back of the neck is beautifully flamed!

This guitar projects! Designed to essentially be a percussion instrument, this is currently set up with 14’s (!) and in spite of that it’s really easy and smooth to play.

-Original tuners are NOT included

-Includes a very heavy duty Calton case
