Here is a 1943 Gibson LG-2 in very clean and original condition! A no-excuses example of the Banner-era classic. There is no FON# to be found, so there is some heresy involved in the exact year- but all appointments are consistent to indicate. CHUNK of a 2-piece maple neck- nut width= 1 3/4″, thickness at 1st fret is 1.09″ and 1.12″ at the 9th. Thus a minimal taper. Bridge is original but there is evidence around it (only visible via blacklight) that it has been reset during its life. There are no signs of a neck reset- but there is a still plenty of saddle life left so no concerns there. Frets and tuners all appear original. Neck is very straight (this example does have an adjustable truss rod, many do not). Mahogany back/sides, with a spruce top. There is a crack on the side that was repaired (likely a long time ago) professionally and was very well done and is stable.
