This 1922 Bacon & Day Silver Bell 4-String Banjo is a real stunner! With a 26″ scale, the Silver Bell #1 exhibit many of the same ornate flourishes the higher end models possess- albeit in a more demure presentation. The Headstock inlay work is very clean and elegant. All hardware appears original and displayed the expected patina of an instrument over 100 years old. The head is a newer replacement. The bridge is likely a newer replacement. We’ve been inside and internal structure all appears original and clean, with the serial # stamped on the center brace (#25508). Action sets up comfortably, although there is some wear on the frets- it is still quite comfortable to play. The back shows a very nice Birdseye Maple!
