Here is a 2000’s era Steve Andersen 16.75″ Streamline Archtop- handmade in Seattle, as played by artists like Bill Frisell. Steve but over 500 instruments- a lot of them mandolins- and is highly regarded. This example is in all original- played- but very nice condition. No repairs or modifications, it shows a lot of normal player wear overall. The top is made of solid carved Englemen Spruce. The back, neck & sides are solid Western Maple (and highly figured at that!). The fingerboard is Ebony- matching the bridge, tailpiece and pickguard. This one is loaded with a Kent Armstrong humbucker. Nut width is just a hair under 1 3/4″ at 1.72″. Neck profile is a comfortable medium “C”, thickness measuring at the 1st fret= .85″ and at the 12th= .92″. Frets show some light wear primarily in the lower positions but have plenty of height & life left. Action is low and this is a breeze and joy to play!
