This 1961 Martin D-28 is an incredible example! It’s had some work done- all of the important ‘player’ updates, i.e., refret, neck reset, bridge reset- all likely done years ago- so it plays GREAT! The wire used for the refret appears to be vintage accurate replacement, and it shows some minor wear (only on the G/B strings) so we’d suspect the work was done some years ago. The saddle is quite tall and has a lot of room come down- but we’d call the setup it currently shows a perfect for a bluegrass player. Original (vintage) Rotomatic Grover tuners, and the typical volute is present- nut width= 1.65″, with a medium (very soft) “V” profile to the neck. 1st fret thickness= .79″ and at the 9th fret= .95″ so there is a good amount of taper with very softly rolled fingerboard edges. There are no cracks or repairs! The finish overall shows a normal amount of checking/crazing but would gloss up nicely if you choose! Ebony fingerboard and bridge, and the back and sides are of course Brazilian Rosewood.
