1953 Gibson J-50

$5,995.00

This 1953 Gibson J-50 is a great character piece! All of the player changes/updates you’d want, but with character and a really amazing presence! Solid sprue top with Mahogany back/sides, and an artistic livery taken with the fingerboard inlays- they have been modified to Canadian Maple Leafs (and well done, any that). Chunky “C” Gibson neck profile, nut width= 1.69″ with a really dark Rosewood fingerboard. Original frets from 12th fret up, refretted from 1-11. Plays great and actions set up perfectly for a flat picker. Evidence that the bridge and neck had been reset (likely long time ago). Some internal braces were reglued, and the tuners are original with newer replaced buttons. New bone nut and saddle. The facia of the headstock was originally overlaid with a rosewood veneer with a script style Gibson logo- which would not have been original to it- but was since removed (but in a blacklight you can still see a shadow of the script logo). And a strap button was added to the heel. But did we mention the SOUND!? It’s loud and really resonant. You will love playing this.
