This 1952 Gibson ES-295 is some real history! This example is very clean and all original! Very light checking throughout its original Gold finish (no overspray), the back of the neck is really the only area that shows some significant wear & oxidization. This is a single family instrument- passed down from its original owner to the next, who in turn has passed it to us for its sale. All hardware, tuners, pickups- are original. The label is present inside, and this instrument was appraised by Gruhn’s and identified as a late ’52 (consistent with the serial). No repairs or modifications. Neck is a very comfortable chunky “C” shape= nut width= 1.69″, and thickness at the 1st fret= .88″ and at the 9th fret= .98″ so this exhibits a small/average amount of taper. The original frets do show some pretty heavy wear. As a collector we’d suggest leaving them as they are. There is enough height to keep it comfortably playable with lighter gauge strings. As a working/gigging instrument we’d probably suggest replacing them. The original P90’s are strong and round- the bridge pickup measures in at 7.54 k, and the next comes in at 7.86k. The neck set is original and angle is good, providing comfortably low action throughout.
